Pokerstars does not give you a “ticket” to the WSOP. They transfer the cash value of the prize package into your Pokerstars account. It is the player’s responsibility to actually buy into the tournament.

Tuesday is poker night on ESPN. There are two shows, one at 8pm EST and another at 9pm EST.

A little of both . 8000 ppl is really hard to get though. I doubt it will even be anywhere near that this year. Maybe half. One thing for sure though is you need to be lucky and stay out of trouble, in order to win . A donkey cannot win the world series anymore. Jamie Gold might not be the best , but he wasnt a donkey either.

go for it. because of taxes. last year you got lucky and you know it. lets assume they put up the 10 grand . it is a gift and it is all yours……….use the 10 g’s to off set any losses you incurred during the year. so assuming you won10 large of your own during the year and were first out of the main event this year, you owe no tax. because you got a sponsor you keep 25 hundred you otherwise would have had to pay in tax. so her is the plan. early on you got a 50/50 shot of taking out any player you have seen on TV. only top 50 of 10 thousand people get paid so you know you will not be in the money. but you got a $2500 stake to get in a cash game with the big boys.

It depends on the buy-in. If you buy in cheap, it is most likely a satellite tournament that is giving away a seat to another satellite.

If the buy-in is higher the winner of the tournament can go to the big one. For example, I think they have single table satellite tournaments in Las Vegas that can get you into the WSOP main event. Those buy ins are a little more than $1000.

Often times when there is an online satellite for $1-$50 it is a satellite tournament to get seats in another satellite for the big prize.

Have this document signed and dated by both parties in front of a notary public and notarised. Make sure the WSOP people have copies of all your sponserships, so IRS has the correct tax percentages.

In 2005, Steve Danneman had a buddy pay for half of his entrance fee and he ended up in 2nd place, having to split over $3 million equally.

Of course the next year, Steve paid for all of his buddy’s entrance fees (I believe 6 or 7 friends).

If you can handle it by yourself then that is the best way. If you really want to include some friends and especially if they are going along on the trip, that sure sounds like a way to make sure you have a vested cheering section! Good luck and great cards to you!
